Stop the presses!
Or, at least, hold that browser.
There’s an inventor who’s solved the world’s energy problems, and he needs only a minimum of $200,000 to get started.
But don’t take my word for it: click on over to the Overstock.com auction site, go to the Real Estate section, and look at the “Featured Item” as it appeared late yesterday.
If it no longer appears—having been snapped up by some fast-fingered, foresighted mogul-to-be—I apologize for not alerting our readers sooner.
But it’s not as if there’s much to look at on the Overstock auction site—listings have flattened out, bids are low and it looks as if Patrick Byrne’s conference call boast that Overstock’s auction site outperforms eBay in certain areas is hokum. Consequently, the availability of such a unique opportunity (free, renewable energy) took even me by surprise.
I repeat the item as it appeared—capital letters, grammar and all:
Electric Vehicles
I’M LOOKING FOR A INVESTOR OR INVESTORS. I NEED A MINIMUM OF $200,000 TO GET STARTED. I AM TAKING PEOPLES PERSONAL CARS AND CHANGING THEM OVER FROM GAS ENGINES TO ELECTRIC DRIVEN MOTORS. THESE VEHICLES WILL NEVER NEED PLUGGED IN. THEY WILL RECHARGE THEMSELVES AS YOU DRIVE . THIS IS THE PERFECT TIME FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. WITH HIGH GAS PRICES THAT ARE NOT GOING TO COME DOWN, THAT’LL MAKE THIS A VERY HIGH DEMAND TO HAVE DONE NOW. IT WILL SELL ITSELF.
SO IF YOUR LOOKING TO INVEST IN THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY ,THEN EMAIL ME [address deleted] FOR MORE INFORMATION. LET’S MEET AND TALK OVER A CUP OF COFFEE OR A DRINK. IF YOUR READY TO DO IT NOW THEN GO AHEAD AND PUT YOUR BID IN ON IT. I’M READY TO GO WHEN YOU ARE. WE’LL BE RICH AND FAMOUS.
THANK YOU, [name deleted] CANTON, NORTH CAROLINA
THE PICTURE IS AN ELECTRIC DRIVEN PICKUP TRUCK. I DID NOT BUILD THIS TRUCK.

Why settle for renewable energy when you can create energy with cold fusion? My do-it-yourself cold fusion kit combines nuclei of two atoms into one larger nucleus, then splits the nucleus, creating 10-50% more energy than is required to join them. For limited time, you can order my kit for $100, which includes free safety goggles!
Funny that OSTK has been up about 5pts the last few days and, on target, Jeff comes out with an idiotic slam on OSTK (It really is stupid Jeff). I’ll give Jeff credit for his timing but it’s obvious he’s short the stock. One really needs to becareful interpreting his “views” on things as they’re more often times colored towards his market position. Something to keep in consideration as you navigate his site.

Would that “mfairview” had a clue…but, alas, he lets his own stock portfolio get in the way of honest information.
Nothing on this blog has ever been posted based on stock price. Whether Overstock’s stock is $40 or $20 or $80 is irrelevant to the facts of the particular case being examined. In this case, it is Overstock’s auction site, and whether it fulfills the mighty promises of Patrick Byrne or not.
Unfortunately, “mfairview” and his ilk bring a Yahoo Message Board-mentality to this blog, confusing “stock price” with “worth.”
Such dark thoughts as “mfairfiew” expresses–that my observations regarding Overstock’s auction site are due only to a hidden agenda–are entirely consistent with the Message Board mentality embraced by Patrick Byrne himself.
Unfortunately–and the facts speak louder than “mfairview”‘s conspiracy theories–Overstock’s auction site has not fulfilled any of the grand conference call/”Deep Thoughts” promises of Patrick Byrne himself.
That it carries such ridiculous “featured items” as an illiterate mechanic’s promise free, renewable energy, is a fact entirely worth pointing out, whether Overstock’s share price is $5 higher or not.
And that won’t change.

Whatever Jeff, I failed to see the ebay “Jesus Cheese Sandwich” auction or “Buy my child’s ghost” auction or the countless other garbage items put on ebay/amazon/yahoo posted on your site. Why? Because they’re dumb and it’s obvious a company’s direction is not attached to these listings. For you to bring it up here as “headline news” is, again, idiotcy plain and simple and leads me to the conclusion that a conflict of interest does exist here. I’ve asked you before, and will do so again, though I won’t hold my breath for an answer, but do you currently hold a position in OSTK (short or long). It’s 3:15pm EST 4/8/2005.
renewable energy ? Cold fusion ? Bush’s Iraq policy ? Nothing new
